Throughout the year, it also becomes a gathering place for some of Carolina Beach's favorite markets, movies, festivals, and community events.

The park sits right in the heart of Carolina Beach, just a short walk from the Boardwalk, beach accesses, coffee shops, restaurants, and local shopping.

That's part of what makes it such an easy addition to a Carolina Beach day—you don't necessarily need to plan an entire outing around it. Grab coffee, walk the lake, wander toward the Boardwalk, and be on the beach before lunch.

Walk the Lake

One of our favorite ways to enjoy the park is also the simplest.

A paved path loops around the freshwater lake for approximately three-quarters of a mile, making it an easy spot for a morning walk, casual jog, bike ride, or evening stroll.

The loop offers waterfront views, breezy stretches, and spots to stop along the way. Leashed dogs are welcome, too, making it a great option when your four-legged travel companion needs a little adventure beyond the beach.

Vesta tip: Go early in the morning before the beach day begins, or around sunset when the temperature drops and the island starts to slow down.

Bring the Kids

The Brandy Myers Memorial Playground sits beside the lake and makes the park an easy win for families traveling with younger children.

Pair some playground time with a walk around the lake or bring lunch and take advantage of the nearby picnic areas. It's also a convenient change of scenery when everyone needs a little break from sand and saltwater.

Markets, Movies + Local Events

During the warmer months, Carolina Beach Lake Park becomes one of the island's favorite community gathering spots.

Depending on when you visit, you may find the seasonal Carolina Beach Market, outdoor Movies at the Lake, festivals, craft fairs, holiday celebrations, and other special events happening around the park.

Make a Day of It

One of the best things about Lake Park is its location.

From here, you can easily walk toward the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, grab lunch at a local restaurant, stop for coffee or something sweet, browse nearby shops, and finish the afternoon on the beach.

It's an easy way to experience more of Carolina Beach without spending half your vacation getting in and out of the car.
